Now I don't mean to be big headed or anything, but I have always thought that I
was quite good at Pro Evolution Soccer, the only problem that I have with the
game is that I'm useless at free kicks, I cant dribble and I don't know any of
the special moves (in fact thinking about it maybe I'm not that good after all),
so what I needed was some help and it certainly wasn't going to come from my
opponents, so where would it come from?
Thankfully for people like me help is now at hand in the form of Piggyback
Interactive's PES6: The Expert Guide, this book is crammed with everything you
need to know about Pro Evolution Soccer 6 throughout it's 169 pages, it also
comes with a free DVD which contains footage of over 150 moves, shots and tricks
as well as an interview with the legend that is PES Creator 'Seabass'.
The book itself starts off with a basic
introduction on how to play PES 6 for beginners, this is a short section which
covers the basic controls, mode select screen and takes you through your first
match, this section is not really intended for fans of the series though, so if
you have played before it is worth skipping.
The next two sections in the book are the ones
that everyone will want to read, as they provided an in depth guide to every
move you can make in the game as well as explaining how player attributes work,
a lot of work has gone into these sections and their lay out makes it very easy
to find the move you are looking for and practice until you perfect it. Speaking
from a personal point of view, I have found that the best way to practice a move
(especially free kicks) is just to load the game up and select Training mode
with your book by your side.

An area of PES that most people (including
myself) usually ignore is the formation settings and the Expert Guide dedicates
a section to this which provides a guide to the different formation you can
choose and what their strengths and weaknesses are, this section also covers
player and team instructions, condition, availability and stamina, it certainly
helps you get the most out of this part of the game and will help you win
matches that may just have needed that little bit of tweaking.
The rest of the book provides information on
how to get the best out of the Masters League and also provides a guide to the
best teams and players in the game, so when you play on Xbox Live and see other
players choosing the same teams time and time again it gives you the feeling
that they have already read this book.
Piggybanks Pro Evolution Soccer 6: The Expert
Guide is one of the best and well presented guide books that I have ever used,
it explains everything that you want to know in great detail while being very
clear, easy to read and as mentioned earlier it also comes with a free bonus
DVD, all for the excellent price of £11.99. I highly recommend this book to all
players of PES6, we will all be experts soon, thanks to Piggybank.
