Simple and to the point, which was quite
refreshing. Within a minute of powering on the machine I was enjoying a nice
little intro sequence.
Very simple to learn, and reasonably
basic considering that “it is a war game” Left stick to move, right stick to
aim. Right trigger to shoot primary weapon left to throw grenade, as easy as
cooking beans on toast.
However Controlling vehicles takes a
little (well, a lot) of getting used to. But fun nonetheless. Running troops
down with a tank or setting them on fire is very entertaining, although not
nearly as entertaining as hitting an opposing troop straight on with a tank
shell. You will laugh full heartedly, guaranteed
On first inspection you would very quite
happy seeing this moving. The graphics are very nice but unfortunately not
what you’d expect from a next generation machine. Adequate though they are,
not once did I feel overly disappointed with them. One thing I would really
like to point out is how “tongue in cheek” this game is. See below (sound)
section for further info as to the “feel” of the game. The graphics are
definitely not supposed to be breath-taking and in certain times you feel they
are intentionally “interesting” to add to the comedic value of the game.

Some people would find it offensive
especially with all the “damn krout scum” American camaraderie going on in
this title. But I would recommend that people watch a few episodes of south
park or at least watch Team America world police before playing. Some of the
one-liners were hilarious and are designed to be offensive to the Europeans to
show how simple minded our friends across the pond can be. Strangely
refreshing in a war game.
Playing this title for a few hours a
night would last roughly a week on easy/normal setting (in campaign mode)
however I wasn’t privileged to try on difficult. I only managed on game on
Live and I have to admit it was a blast (no pun intended).
So there we are, two to three weeks
(roughly) on single player and however long you want on live.

I personally really enjoyed this title.
Although in contrast to my Fifa review, the Graphics didn’t detract from the
enjoyment I had with this game. Although some people would be put off with the
overall look, I found the style of this game to be very refreshing. Seeing a
tank being parachuted in is very amusing, especially if it lands on one of
your troops.
All in all a very solid game which has
only a few minor niggles. Interesting vehicular control and sub next-gen
graphics. I would definitely buy this title for twenty-five quid. But
admittedly fifty is a little steep…
