Xbox Live is full to bursting point with arcade/puzzle games, so when a new title appears its always brings up the question, what game is this like?, is it a clone of Tetris, or a card and numbers puzzle game. Go! Go! Break Steady has gone for a slightly different approach and combined a few ideas into one game, but does more mean better?

Go! Go! is a body popping arcade/puzzle game, the main idea is to dance in time with the music and then link together three or more Beatniks in a chain to blow them up. Whilst the story does not make any sense the gaming aspect surprisingly does. To start you have to pull off some moves, your character is in the middle of the screen and a line of face buttons will appear on screen, all you have to do here is hit the right face button when it goes through the middle of the screen, sounds easy at first but this is ramped up later when the beats will appear from all over the screen, creating a really fun challenge to track them and hit them in time. Once you have completed a line you are then moved to the bottom of the screen and the large line of Beatniks, these little chaps are also colour co-ordinated, you have a few of them in your reserves and you need to shoot them into the line to connect three or more, well planned shots will allow for huge combo’s which gain more points. Once you have used up your reserves you go back to the dancing part, do a few more timed dance moves and then go back and forth until all of the Beatniks have gone.

The main part of the game is the "All City Tournament", here you can choose from 6 characters and play through each of their 5 rounds against the selected DJ. The characters are well designed, they have a kind of animated graffiti look and each has their own style, including the hardcore biddy, G Mamma.

You also have an Endurance mode, this is an ever mode where the goal is to last as long as possible, plus there is a custom challenge mode which allows you to choose from 20 tracks and play a few rounds in whichever order you like. The music available is really good, with a wide variety of styles including electric boogaloo, disco, funk, big beat and house, each track is as enjoyable as the last which is a nice change.

Again we have an online mode which allows for co-op and against a player but the never ending problem of any other players being online makes it difficult to review that aspect, they must all still be playing Halo.

Go! Go! Break Steady has taken two good fun arcade elements and mixed them up into a really cool package. If you enjoyed games like Zuma or Parappa the Rappa then this may be worth a try.
