As with Singstar, Buzz is another franchise were it seems that Sony can do no wrong, it’s a perfect formula which families everywhere enjoy and now with Buzz Quiz World it’s just got even better. As usual the game comes packed with questions, over 5000 all in and it also includes all of the other things you have come to expect from the series such as the ability to play in a variety of different quizzes with family and friends or to head online and take on the world, however there have been many improvements to the new version, more so than in previous ones.

 

 

The first thing you will notice about the all new Buzz is that the presentation has been changed from the menus to the way the quizzes themselves. The presentation is both simpler and a lot more pleasing to the eye. The menus now include the ability to go straight on the Playstation Store as well as uploading and browsing through any picture you may have taken with the games built it Get your Game Face On camera.

 

The menus also offer more choice for the types of game you can play, therefore selecting single player will present you with the choice of the standard game, a quick 15 minute game, a longer more gruelling 45 minute game, a game with serious or silly rounds and various other options such as the ability to play your own quizzes, which can be submitted via MyBuzzquiz.com or you can even customise the quiz completely to suit your own taste. Finally the single player also adds an all new single player challenge mode which tests your knowledge before uploading your scores to the offline and online leaderboards.

 

When you start a game you will be asked to choose a profile, once you have done this you will then need to select your name from a rather extensive list, this adds a whole new level of personalisation during the game as you will be listening to Buzz telling you how useless you are with your own name, it’s a great touch and makes playing all the more entertaining. The only drawback here is that there aren’t quite enough names, there is no doubt that there is going to be some people who miss out, though since this is a new feature more will no doubt be added at some point in the future be this through DLC or in a later edition of the game.

 

Other new additions during the action are some of the game modes, these include games such as Boiling Point were you need to be first to fill up your Thermometer, Boiling Point were you need to guess if your opponent will get the answer right and Over the Edge were your podium rises for every question you get wrong, before you are finally tipped into a vat of slim.

 

As well as the new rounds, Quiz World also includes the other classics such as Fastest Finger, Pass the Bomb, Stop the Clock and The Final Countdown etc, so there is certainly plenty of variety on offer here. Once the match is over, the winner receives a prize (such a corny chessboard) and you will then be asked to take a picture of the winner, before then being given the option of an immediate rematch, for those who feel that they have been hard done by.

 

 

While the Single Player mode has seen lots of improvements it’s not alone as you can now play with four local players against opponents via the PlayStation Network, not only that but you can also have eight-player matches online which obviously adds a lot to the overall experience. As with previous Buzz games, players can take part in user created quizzes or create your own for others to take part in, meaning that there is practically an unlimited amount of quizzes for you to take part in.

 

It’s fair to say that there isn’t really much wrong with Buzz Quiz World, the questions rarely repeat themselves and it is wonderfully presented. This is the sort of game that really embraces its community and thanks to the improvements made it’s just got even better. If you loved any of the previous titles then you will have a great time with Buzz Quiz World because it’s fantastic.
