DOUBLE D DODGEBALL
Double D Dodgeball is here and so are our thoughts. After the link of course.

Before you all get too excited, this is not a big breasted sports romp like the name implies, nope, its an Xbox Live version of the indoor sports game dodgeball, the game that your PE teacher would get you to play when they had a hangover.

The idea of dodgeball is a very simple one, you have a court split in half, two teams will then play against each other, the aim is to hit the opposite team with the ball, hit them and they are out, however if they catch the ball they are able to retaliate, the inclusion of a few balls on the court makes for a very quick and at times painful game.

The Xbox Live iteration has the same principles, a red and blue team will play against each other, however you are able to select your character from a skill set and with 5 to choose from there is plenty of scope to make a strong team. Normal is an all rounder, Shooter is able to use more powerful shots but moves slowly, Catcher is able to use a trick shot, Runner is able to speed up his shots and Glass can create a glass ball and also fire two balls at once.

I am very surprised at how weak the graphics look, they are literally pixels of old, we are talking on par with Space Invaders, very simple block characters that you turn using the right stick, and move around the screen with the left stick. Even the size of the court is small, leaving a load of empty screen around the edges, it seems a complete waste of space.

Our Rating for Double D Dodgeball
5.0
Story
Play dodgeball.
2.0
Lastability
Single player is over in moments and very boring, online is an improvement but not by much.
1.0
Playability
Simple controls but rendered useless due to the inexcusable lag online.
2.0
Originality
Here was a perfect opportunity to go for a "deluxe" version like so many other Live games, but instead it is a very bog standard bat and ball affair.
1.0
Graphics
Acceptable if it was on Nintendo’s Virtual Channel as could be passed off as a NES game, but not on Live. It gets a point because it has graphics.
3.0
Sound
Blips and blaps and a rock/club mix in the background. Nothing exciting.
1.0
Overall
I have played some bad games in the past but this has beaten them all, I cant recommend this to anybody, If the lag issue has been resolved this could get a 3 but the overall package is very poor and not worth any of your money.
