Singstar Abba marks the first time that Sony have released a disc dedicated to one artist, so who better to choose than the long haired hippies for the seventies, who have a string of hit songs that everyone (or nearly everyone) should know.
Now maybe it’s because I was born in the seventies myself but the tracklist on Singstar Abba is one that appeals to me anyway, although I’m usually happier listening to Rock Music, there is something about tracks like Waterloo, Mama Mia and Winner Takes it All that just makes you want to sing along, though not necessarily on a regular occasion (I can’t believe I’m admitting I like Abba in public – cue embarrassment). The Playstation 3 version of Singstar Abba plays host to a few exclusive tracks that cannot be found on the PS2, these are The Day Before You Came, Happy New Year, Head Over Heels, Under Attack and When All is Said and Done, though it should be mentioned that all the more popular tracks appear on both versions of the game.
Singstar Abba is presented in much the same way as the other Singstar games on the PS3, the only real change apart from the tracks is that the background is in an Abba style Black and Gold. The functions that you would expect for the previous versions are all included on this disc, meaning you can access the Singstore or My Singstar online, or even change discs while keeping the same background and profiles. You can also access you previously downloaded songs should you have any.
![]() Unless you are after the songs and not the features, then you will be disappointed with the lack of innovation on this disc, much like Singstar Vol.3, there is nothing really to get excited about here in terms of changes.
There is no doubt that Singstar Abba is squarely aimed at Abba fans so if you hate their songs or have never even heard of them then chances are this disc won’t be for you, however if you have a spare £19.99 sitting about then adding this to your collection will surely appeal to someone you know, it might even make a great Xmas present for your Abba loving relatives.
