Sony have today released firmware 2.40 for the Playstation 3.

If you have read our previous news stories and watched the videos then you should know all about this, however for those who don’t, firmware 2.40 adds trophy support allowing users to unlock trophies for completing certain tasks within a game (think Xbox 360 achievements but with a different name). having tried these out this morning I can report that they work just as well as the 360 version but with the added incentive of increasing a level each time you get a set amount of trophies.

Firmware 2.40 also adds in-game xmb access, allowing users to message friends, play their own music and adjust settings.
