Konami have today confirmed that they have secured the exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League for Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 and have also agreed terms with Liverpool and Manchester United to include licensed versions of each team in the game.
The Champions League licence means that the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC versions due out on 17th October will include "all elements and attributes of the competition".
PES 2009 not only features Liverpool, but is the Official Football Videogame of Liverpool FC, and Konami is even producing a specially-packaged version for exclusive use by the club.
"Liverpool FC fans can look forward to the most realistic video game recreation of their team, with the likes of Torres, Gerrard and Carragher recreated with an incredible level of detail," said Konami’s Jon Murphy.
PES 2009 promises more detailed likenesses and special animations to match in-game players to their real-life counterparts, and Konami says that will be particularly evident with the licensed Man United team, for which Tevez, Ferdinand, Ronaldo and van der Sar will all have their own graphical sequences.
